Everything that changed in Workout Buddy, newest first.
2.7 2026-08-01
Gentle workouts stop repeating themselves. They now rotate through muscle groups, so you won't get two shoulder moves or two core moves back to back the way you could before.
Ten new Gentle exercises, chosen to fill the gaps: Shoulder Blade Squeezes, Wall Angels, Standing Rows, Counter Hip Hinges, Heel-Toe Rocks, Ankle Circles, Neck & Shoulder Rolls, Standing Toe Taps, Chest Opener and Step-Backs. Gentle had no back exercises at all and only one for the chest; now it covers nine muscle groups across 28 moves.

The wireframe figures now stand on the floor. Feet used to hover a visible gap above the line — or sink through it — in almost every exercise; the floor the figures were drawn against and the one you could see were in different places.
Squats, Goblet Squats and Chair Sit-to-Stands keep their feet planted all the way down instead of sinking through the floor at mid-descent.
Mountain Climbers and Burpees no longer swing a leg straight through the ground on the way from one position to the next.
Planks, Push-Ups, Side Planks, Bird Dog and Glute Bridges now rest their hands, forearms, knees and heels on the floor rather than near it.
Push-Ups and Incline Push-Ups keep their hands still while the body lowers, instead of dragging them down through the floor.
Incline Push-Ups now shows the bench you'd put your hands on.
Reverse Snow Angels is drawn lying face down, which is how you actually do it — it used to show a standing figure.
2.5 2026-07-31
"Repeat" now rebuilds your last workout from stable exercise ids rather than names, so a move that gets renamed in a future update won't quietly vanish from the repeated workout. Existing history carries over untouched.
2.4 2026-07-31
Workouts now keep proper time when you leave the app. A phone call or a peek at your home screen no longer freezes the timer mid-exercise, and your history records what you actually did. If you're away longer than the interval you were in, the workout pauses and waits for you rather than skipping ahead.
The voice coach now turns the music down while it talks, instead of the two competing at full volume.
Setting every exercise in a category to "Never" now genuinely keeps that category out of your workouts — it used to quietly put them back.
Fixed the Jumping Jacks demo: the far arm sweeps up alongside the near one instead of swinging down across the body.
2.3 2026-07-31
Fixed the Shallow Squats demo: your hands now stay put on the counter and your feet stay planted — only your hips and knees move, as they should.
2.2 2026-07-31
Lots more Gentle exercises: counter-assisted shallow squats, calf raises, standing knee lifts, leg curls and back leg raises — plus arm jacks, arm circles, standing torso twists, side steps, overhead side reach, and deep breaths.
Balance-support moves now show a wireframe counter with the figure holding it, so it's clear when to steady yourself.
2.1 2026-07-31
New Gentle intensity: an accessible workout of simple standing and seated moves — chair sit-to-stands, marching in place, toe raises, standing leg and arm raises, wall push-ups, side bends — with a relaxed 20s-on / 40s-off pace and nothing that requires getting down on the floor.
2.0 2026-07-30
New 7-minute workout, and a redesigned home screen: set your equipment and intensity up top, then tap a length to build the workout instantly — no separate Generate button.
Chair toggle: include or skip moves that need a chair, wall, or door frame. On by default; turn it off for pure floor exercises.
Intensity now sits in one compact row (Chill / Steady / Intense).
Workout lengths are now 7, 10, 15, and 30 minutes (dropped 20).
1.9 2026-07-25
Removed the 45-minute workout length.
Chill intensity now rests 30 seconds between exercises (was 25), for an even 30s-on / 30s-off rhythm.
1.8 2026-07-24
Workout music no longer feels repetitive: 30 more tunes (now 27 driving work tracks and 8 gentle rest tracks), played in a shuffled order so you rarely hear the same one twice in a session.
Music now starts without the brief stutter it sometimes had, and uses about half the memory.
1.7 2026-07-20
Dumbbells. New Equipment toggle on the home screen adds 10 weighted moves to the mix — Thrusters, Swings, Goblet Squats, Romanian Deadlifts, Shoulder Press, Floor Press, Russian Twists, Side Bends, Bent-Over Rows and Pullovers. Off by default; the wireframe now draws the weights.
Back and Push had far fewer moves than the other categories, which made repeats within a workout almost unavoidable — every category now has at least six, spanning easy to hard, so Chill and Intense pick from a real range.
The Exercises tab marks moves that need dumbbells.
1.6 2026-07-20
Fixed the exercise counter and progress bar disagreeing with the exercise shown on screen during rest periods.
Workouts no longer repeat the same exercise on consecutive rounds of a category — the anti-repeat check never actually fired.
The 5-second "Get Ready" countdown no longer counts toward your recorded workout time.
Fixed the music and voice toggles occasionally failing to take effect mid-workout.
1.5 2026-07-20
Music variety: three driving work tracks rotate between exercises, and gentle ambient tunes now play during rest periods.
"Next Up" badge in the player's lower corner shows the upcoming exercise.
Exercises tab rows no longer wrap the frequency label (name on top, frequency lower right).
Generate and Repeat share one row on the home screen.
1.4 2026-07-20
Exercise catalog tab: browse all exercises, tune how often each is picked (never / seldom / occasionally / often), and tap for the side + front demo.
Original chiptune workout music during work phases (toggle in the player).
Voice coach uses the best-quality installed system voice.
Fixed double-digit exercise numbers wrapping in the workout preview list.
1.3 2026-07-20
8 new exercises: Skater Jumps, Skier Jumps (cardio); Wall Sits, Door Frame Pistol Squats, Chair Bulgarian Squats, Figure-4 Squats (legs); One-Arm Wall Push-Ups (push); Side Planks (core). Difficulty-rated so Chill skips the hard ones and Intense favors them.
1.2 2026-07-20
Tap an exercise in the workout preview to see its wireframe demo from both the side and the front, with the form tip.
1.1 2026-07-19
Screen stays awake during a workout.
Voice coach (speaker toggle in the player): announces each exercise, rest/"up next", and the 3-2-1 countdown.
Swipe an exercise in the workout preview to swap it for another from the same category.
"Repeat Last Workout" button on the home screen.
Day-streak stat in History.
1.0 2026-07-19
Random full-body bodyweight workout generation from duration (10–45 min) and intensity (Chill / Steady / Intense).
